With a profound understanding of the type of jumping horse our riders in NZ crave Vaughn found Balou Barbados in Australia and imported him to NZ as a young unbroken Colt. Over the past three year he has carefully produced him. Recently Barbados has had his first outings at a show and behaved beautifully. (video below at this first event at Takapoto)

Balou Barabados is proving to be quite the head turner, both for his incredible jumping technique, his striking colour, marking, and his ridable nature. Making him an ideal sire for the NZ market.

Quote from Vaughn Jefferis

“Balou Barbados is a really good example of a young horse produced really well. He has been with us since he was two years old and was always very talented and super careful. When young horses have this much talent you know you need to give them plenty of time to develop. We have really just taken our time with that, he did a lot of 80cms season classes until he was really relaxed. This has given him confidence and we just keep slowly progressing with him. When it is popular to jump them around the series classes, we don’t, instead we pop around a metre class, just working on as rideability. The result is He is such an exciting young performance stallion and his ridability is outstanding he just gets better all the time!”

Quote from Ben Weir

“Balou Barbados is a pleasure to ride and train. He shows all the right traits of being a successful jumper and has proven that with his textbook style technique, carefulness and brain. The feeling Balou Barbados gives over a fence is second to none. He has very good instincts to be careful and has a textbook style technique so as a rider makes my job very easy to produce a good jump. He is a natural!”
