El Clarimo

Clarimo/Limbus

Size: 168 cm / Colour: Grey / Date of birth: 2009
Approved by: KWPN, Holstein, SWB, Oldenburg OS

According to successful breeders, you have to combine the interes-ting in order to attain the exceptional. Eduard Struve did just that when breeding his mare Korrada to then 6-year-old Casall whom he recognized as a promising sire early on.The result of his considerations is Connor – a big-framed stallion with a particularly powerful back, and with long and correct legs. He has elastic, ground-covering and rhythmic movement with a particularly remarkable canter. His jumping is characterised by ab-ility, carefulness and technique, but he is still rather easily impres-sed by his surroundings, similar to his sire at a young age.

Considerations for Breeding

As documented by the breeding value evaluation, he passes on above average type and movement. It is advisable to breed him to mares carrying uncomplicated performance blood as in the case of Connect through Contender – Lord.

Ridden by Hans Peter Minderhoud, Glock’s Johnson TN has become one of the world’s best combinations in dressage. The son of Jazz was overall champion of the KWPN stallion show in 2005 and went on to have a stellar career. He represented the Netherlands at the World Equestrian Games in Caen, and the last two Olympic games and was part of the Dutch team winning gold, and an individual bronze at the European Championships in Aachen. He is placed second on the FEI World Ranking. “His outstanding attitude has made the greatest difference at the highest level. Even if he is almost unable to do something, Johnson will do it for you anyhow”, Hans Peter Minderhoud has said about Johnson.

As a sire, Johnson seems to walk in the footsteps of his sire Jazz and grandsire Flemmingh. Jazz himself performed at Grand Prix level and for many years has been among world’s best dressage sires on the WBFSH Sire Ranking. Flemmingh has left his mark on dressage breeding through offspring like Krack C and Lingh. Johnson descends from the famous ‘Reina’ damline; from breeder Wim van Arkel. Famous horses from this motherline include Darkdream, Sultan, Kallisto, Mendel, Charmeur and Waldo.

The offspring of Johnson himself include Meggle’s Boston, Hexagon’s Double Dutch, Ben Johnson, Breezer, Bretton Woods, Jacksparrow and Firestone. Closer to home, he is the sire of Melissa Galloway’s J’Obei, and Gaylene Lennard’s Jax Johnson who represented New Zealand at WEG 2022. John Thompson’s stallion Chemistry, also part of the NZ team, was out of a Johnson mare.
Johnson has three excellent gaits. Fundamental for this stallion are his easy-going character and willingness to work under saddle.
